Daily eyelid hygiene is often needed even after the acute stage of the disease begins to subside.

Warm Compresses for Blepharitis

When treating blepharitis, warm compresses are applied to the eyelids for 10–15 minutes, 3–4 times a day. This helps soften crusts, clean the lid margins, and relieve discomfort.

Additional Treatment Methods

If there is a sensation of dryness in the eyes, the doctor may recommend lubricating drops such as artificial tears. Careful eyelid hygiene is always the foundation of blepharitis therapy.

Antibiotic Ointments

If the ophthalmologist determines that the patient has a more severe form of blepharitis, they may prescribe an antibiotic ointment. After applying such ointment, temporary blurred vision may occur, but this usually resolves quickly.

Treatment of Chronic Blepharitis

In chronic or treatment-resistant blepharitis, additional therapy may be needed, such as oral antibiotics or other medications.
