For most ophthalmic procedures, local anesthesia (drops/injection) is sufficient — it’s comfortable, controlled, and safe. If the patient is anxious or the surgery takes longer, sedation is used: you stay relaxed, calm, and remember little about the procedure while breathing and heartbeat are monitored by the anesthesiologist. General anesthesia is applied when medically indicated or upon patient request during complex surgeries. Our anesthesiologist will explain the pros and cons and help choose the best option for your health.

In the operating room, we continuously monitor pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and ECG; we use certified drugs and advanced monitors. Standardized protocols, allergy testing, and readiness for emergencies are mandatory. On the day of surgery, we recheck the anesthesia plan, explain sensations during and after the procedure (mild pressure, flashes of light — all normal), and give clear recovery recommendations: routine, eye drops, and activity restrictions. Most patients go home the same day. The cost of anesthesia depends on the type, surgery duration, and medical indications; the final price is provided by the anesthesiologist after consultation.

The surgery was very quick, completely painless, and there was nothing to be afraid of. Everything was at the highest level – the professionalism of the doctors could be felt in everything. Before the surgery, I had a detailed consultation and thorough eye examination, with everything explained clearly. The doctors guided me through each step and created an atmosphere of complete calm. Discomfort after the surgery lasted only the first day, and all the following days were perfect!
