Fear of pain and anxiety before surgery are the most common reasons for delaying treatment. In our clinic, anesthesia care is designed so that the patient feels no discomfort: modern local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia is selected individually. We carefully prepare each patient for the procedure, taking into account existing conditions, allergies, medications, and ensure safety monitoring at every stage.

The result — a pain-free operation, predictable course, quick visual recovery, and full confidence in the team’s reliability.

Which anesthesia to choose: local, sedation, or general?

Which anesthesia to choose: local, sedation, or general?

For most ophthalmic procedures, local anesthesia (drops/injection) is sufficient — it’s comfortable, controlled, and safe. If the patient is anxious or the surgery takes longer, sedation is used: you stay relaxed, calm, and remember little about the procedure while breathing and heartbeat are monitored by the anesthesiologist. General anesthesia is applied when medically indicated or upon patient request during complex surgeries. Our anesthesiologist will explain the pros and cons and help choose the best option for your health.

Preparing for anesthesia: tests, consultation, medications

Preparing for anesthesia: tests, consultation, medications

Preoperative preparation is the key to safety. We collect your medical history, evaluate test results (general tests, coagulation profile, ECG if needed), review your medication list (anticoagulants, antihypertensive, antidiabetic drugs). You receive personalized instructions: when to stop eating/drinking before sedation or general anesthesia, which medications to take on the day of surgery, and what to bring with you. This “anesthesia guide” minimizes risks, enhances anesthesia effectiveness, and speeds up recovery.

Safety control: equipment, monitoring, protocols

In the operating room, we continuously monitor pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and ECG; we use certified drugs and advanced monitors. Standardized protocols, allergy testing, and readiness for emergencies are mandatory. During the operation, an anesthesiologist stays with you at all times, ensuring comfort, proper anesthesia depth, and stable condition. Our approach: 'maximum safety, minimum stress.'

Surgery day: what to expect, recovery, and cost

Surgery day: what to expect, recovery, and cost

On the day of surgery, we recheck the anesthesia plan, explain sensations during and after the procedure (mild pressure, flashes of light — all normal), and give clear recovery recommendations: routine, eye drops, and activity restrictions. Most patients go home the same day. The cost of anesthesia depends on the type, surgery duration, and medical indications; the final price is provided by the anesthesiologist after consultation.

You can book a consultation in Kyiv online ('Registration') or by phone — we will answer questions such as 'how much does anesthesia cost,' what’s included, and how to prepare.

Frequently asked questions about anesthesia support

  • No. We select effective local anesthesia or sedation/general anesthesia. You won’t feel any pain; only brief light flashes or pressure sensations without discomfort are possible.

  • Sedation is a light ‘medical sleep’ with independent breathing and continuous monitoring; general anesthesia is a deeper state where the anesthesiologist controls everything. The choice depends on the procedure and your health condition.

  • Before sedation or general anesthesia, a fasting period is usually required (no food or water as per protocol). The anesthesiologist will give you exact instructions for your case.

  • Yes, provided proper preparation and monitoring. We will coordinate medication intake, adjust therapy if necessary, and choose the safest anesthesia type.

  • Short-term drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness — usually pass quickly. Serious complications are extremely rare and minimized through screening and monitoring.

  • The duration matches the surgery time. After observation in the recovery area, most patients return home the same day with detailed post-care instructions.

  • The cost depends on the type of anesthesia (local/sedation/general), duration, and procedure complexity. The exact price is provided after an in-person consultation and examination.

  • Preferably yes. On the day of surgery, we do not recommend driving; it’s better if a relative meets you or you take a taxi. You’ll receive a full list of restrictions in writing.
