Painless and safe surgeries in Kyiv
Fear of pain and anxiety before surgery are the most common reasons for delaying treatment. In our clinic, anesthesia care is designed so that the patient feels no discomfort: modern local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia is selected individually. We carefully prepare each patient for the procedure, taking into account existing conditions, allergies, medications, and ensure safety monitoring at every stage.
The result — a pain-free operation, predictable course, quick visual recovery, and full confidence in the team’s reliability.
Which anesthesia to choose: local, sedation, or general?

Which anesthesia to choose: local, sedation, or general?
For most ophthalmic procedures, local anesthesia (drops/injection) is sufficient — it’s comfortable, controlled, and safe. If the patient is anxious or the surgery takes longer, sedation is used: you stay relaxed, calm, and remember little about the procedure while breathing and heartbeat are monitored by the anesthesiologist. General anesthesia is applied when medically indicated or upon patient request during complex surgeries. Our anesthesiologist will explain the pros and cons and help choose the best option for your health.
Preparing for anesthesia: tests, consultation, medications

Preparing for anesthesia: tests, consultation, medications
Preoperative preparation is the key to safety. We collect your medical history, evaluate test results (general tests, coagulation profile, ECG if needed), review your medication list (anticoagulants, antihypertensive, antidiabetic drugs). You receive personalized instructions: when to stop eating/drinking before sedation or general anesthesia, which medications to take on the day of surgery, and what to bring with you. This “anesthesia guide” minimizes risks, enhances anesthesia effectiveness, and speeds up recovery.

Safety control: equipment, monitoring, protocols
Safety control: equipment, monitoring, protocols
In the operating room, we continuously monitor pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and ECG; we use certified drugs and advanced monitors. Standardized protocols, allergy testing, and readiness for emergencies are mandatory. During the operation, an anesthesiologist stays with you at all times, ensuring comfort, proper anesthesia depth, and stable condition. Our approach: 'maximum safety, minimum stress.'
Surgery day: what to expect, recovery, and cost

Surgery day: what to expect, recovery, and cost
On the day of surgery, we recheck the anesthesia plan, explain sensations during and after the procedure (mild pressure, flashes of light — all normal), and give clear recovery recommendations: routine, eye drops, and activity restrictions. Most patients go home the same day. The cost of anesthesia depends on the type, surgery duration, and medical indications; the final price is provided by the anesthesiologist after consultation.
You can book a consultation in Kyiv online ('Registration') or by phone — we will answer questions such as 'how much does anesthesia cost,' what’s included, and how to prepare.

Laser vision correction
Chaplygina Kseniia Olehivna
I am 27 years old, and since the 8th grade I had vision problems. At first, I wore glasses, then switched to lenses (used them for about 10 years). My vision was minus 8 in both eyes. Just 5 minutes of surgery – and already the next day you can see as you did long ago. These are incredible feelings. You feel complete, free from any burden (glasses or lenses). It is worth it! Thanks to all the staff of the «British Ophthalmology Center», and especially to the nurse who held my hand during the surgery. Special thanks to the doctor surgeon laser correction and the amazing result. Clear aftercare and follow‑ups made the laser vision correction experience very reassuring.

Cataract treatment
Probieiholova Lidiia Volodymyrivna
I, Probieiholova Lidiia Volodymyrivna, had surgery at your clinic for cataract removal in both eyes. For the first time in my life, I encountered such a well-organized process. I happily return home. I wish all the employees of this center happiness, health, and peace. Modern cataract treatment and clear post‑op instructions made a big difference.

Cataract treatment
Porokhivnyk Hryhorii Ivanovych
My name is Porokhivnyk Hryhorii Ivanovych, I am 65 years old and a patient of the British Ophthalmological Center. It so happened in my life that I did not pay much attention to my health, including the health of my eyes. About a year and a half ago, I visited an ophthalmologist, I did nothing to stabilize my cataract. Problems began when I realized that I could not properly determine the distance to objects, and driving became uncomfortable for me. I visited three clinics together with my wife, and she was given two very different opinions: from “you urgently need surgery” to “it’s just the initial stage and no surgery is needed yet.” Such is private medicine. I started searching the internet. I found many videos by Oleksii (not an ophthalmologist), for which I am especially grateful. Personally, he helped me a lot, especially since I practically knew nothing about this before. The most important thing is the qualification of the surgeon the lens parameters, and the quality of the equipment. Unfortunately, the choice of lens is left to you personally, and no one can guarantee that the result will fully meet your expectations. I was lucky — the examination and all measurements were done by a wonderful doctor, a Ukrainian, an athlete, and a great person, the doctor Uliana Ivanivna. If you need a consultation, contact her — you won’t be mistaken. She is the best ophthalmologist I have met in my life. With the choice of surgeon, I was even luckier. It was the doctor — golden hands, the highest qualification, and a golden soul, love for his work and for people — this is what characterizes him. The atmosphere in the clinic is friendly and pleasant. Thanks to everyone who took part in my surgery and to all the staff of the clinic. Today is the fifth day. I am going for a follow-up consultation. I think the test will show close to one hundred percent. I see both far and near well (the lens parameters were calculated correctly). I received a TECNIS Symfony lens with astigmatism correction. In the evening, bright lights show some artifacts like rays or halos. I hope this will go away, but even so, it’s manageable. The brightness of the image at night is the same as with my healthy eye. Once again, a huge THANK YOU to the doctor!!! Modern cataract treatment and clear post‑op instructions made a big difference.

Cataract treatment
V.I. Kostiuk
I, V.I. Kostiuk – one of the many clients of the British Ophthalmology Center, wish to express my gratitude to the center for its charitable work restoring vision for Ukrainians, as well as for the way the entire process was organized. Special thanks to the doctor V.K. Konstantinova and M.O. the doctor, who restored my vision and changed my life for the better (completely new visual experience). In short – they brought me back to a full life. Sincerely, V.I. Kostiuk. Thank you for the thorough eye examination and careful cataract surgery.
Frequently asked questions about anesthesia support
No. We select effective local anesthesia or sedation/general anesthesia. You won’t feel any pain; only brief light flashes or pressure sensations without discomfort are possible.
Sedation is a light ‘medical sleep’ with independent breathing and continuous monitoring; general anesthesia is a deeper state where the anesthesiologist controls everything. The choice depends on the procedure and your health condition.
Before sedation or general anesthesia, a fasting period is usually required (no food or water as per protocol). The anesthesiologist will give you exact instructions for your case.
Yes, provided proper preparation and monitoring. We will coordinate medication intake, adjust therapy if necessary, and choose the safest anesthesia type.
Short-term drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness — usually pass quickly. Serious complications are extremely rare and minimized through screening and monitoring.
The duration matches the surgery time. After observation in the recovery area, most patients return home the same day with detailed post-care instructions.
The cost depends on the type of anesthesia (local/sedation/general), duration, and procedure complexity. The exact price is provided after an in-person consultation and examination.
Preferably yes. On the day of surgery, we do not recommend driving; it’s better if a relative meets you or you take a taxi. You’ll receive a full list of restrictions in writing.
