A complete eye diagnostics includes not only measuring numerous eye parameters on machines, but also studying documentation, performing specific tests on each eye and both eyes together, examining eye structures through a microscope, under high magnification.

In the visual acuity test, you will be asked to read letters on various tables at close and distant distances to determine the lens power needed to compensate for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. It will take patience and cooperation with an optometrist (eyeglass fitting specialist). Drops that dilate the pupil help eliminate the effect of the intraocular muscle on the eye’s optical power readings and allow for detailed examination of the eye fundus.

Regular eye exams are necessary

Regular eye exams are necessary so that you can maintain your eye health and good vision. In addition, eye exams allow you to find out more information about your health than you expect. In some cases, the eye doctor can draw conclusions about your overall health. Your eyes will tell your doctor more about the condition of your veins and arteries than any other organ. The ophthalmologist can also detect early symptoms of diseases that can worsen your vision over time. For this reason, regular eye exams are very important, even if you are not experiencing any vision problems. You should have an eye exam at least once a year, even if you have excellent vision.

Consultations

Over the years we have provided hundreds of thousands of eye care services.

If you choose British Eye Center, you can be sure of the quality of services provided, because you are entrusting your vision to a modern clinic.

A number of tests are performed to check the eyes:

  • VISOMETRY

Determination of visual acuity in the distance by means of tables with letters, numbers or other signs.

  • TONOMETRY

Measurement of intraocular pressure. Increased intraocular pressure is the main sign of glaucoma.

  • REFRACTOMETRY

Determination of the optical power of the eye with an autorefractometer (diagnosis of refractive error: nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism). Some people call this a computerized eyeglass fitting.

  • BIOMETRY

Measurement of anterior chamber depth, lens thickness, vitreous body dimensions, and the size of the eye as a whole. Non-contact, in just a few seconds, performed with a latest generation optical instrument. Allows high precision calculation of the required artificial lens.

  • PACHYMETRY

This is a measurement of the thickness of the cornea through ultrasound or light scanning. It is necessary for both pre- and post-refractive examinations.

  • KERATOTOPOGRAPHY

A study of the curvature of the cornea by recording the test objects reflected by it. This examination allows us to determine the shape of the cornea and the presence of corneal problems.

  • PERIMETRY

Determining the boundary of the visual field. The visual field is the part of the surrounding space that the eye is able to see with the head and gaze completely still. An important method of diagnosing eye diseases such as glaucoma, partial optic atrophy, retinal detachment, etc.

  • BIOMICROSCOPY

A method of examining the anterior segment of the eye with a slit lamp (special microscope). During biomicroscopy, the ophthalmologist looks at the conjunctiva, cornea, iris, crystalline lens, and vitreous body with high magnification.

  • FUNDUS-LENS EXAMINATION

Examination of the fundus oculi with a fundus lens (examination of the retina and its vessels). One of the most common and important methods in the diagnosis of eye diseases. With good skills of the doctor and good quality local anesthesia it causes almost no discomfort.

  • DIOPTRIMETRY

An optical analysis of the glasses you are wearing.

Results of the examination

At the end of the examination, the eye doctor will give you a detailed assessment of your eye and vision health, inform you of the risks you may be exposed to, advise on available methods of prevention and, if necessary, prescribe treatment. Discussing your upcoming surgery is an important part of the discussion. Any questions you have should be discussed before the surgery!

Laser vision correction

I, Alexander Vladimirovich Shugaley, turned to the British Ophthalmological Center on the recommendation of friends. On November 26, 2019, I was diagnosed here using modern equipment. As a result, I was diagnosed not only with farsightedness and astigmatism, but also with a “lazy eye.” Laser vision correction using the most modern Excimer equipment was recommended. I made up my mind and on December 4, 2019, I had this operation. Afterwards I felt sand in my eyes, pain, fear of light, but by night I felt better. The next day there was a free inspection. Then in another month I need to come for an examination. In general, I am very pleased with the attitude of the staff; the center is very cozy. I will definitely recommend it to my friends. Thanks to the professionals for the excellent work and my new vision. Doctor Tyazhkaya Natalya Petrovna performed my operation brilliantly, for which I thank her very much!

Computer Vision Diagnostics: Benefits and Applied Methods

To select the appropriate correction method, it is first necessary to undergo a vision diagnosis. Let us explain the capabilities of computer vision testing and the methods used.

Advantages of Computer Eye Diagnostics

Specialists at the British Ophthalmology Center work according to European standards.

The use of modern techniques allows:

  • using advanced equipment to determine the parameters of the visual organs and select the appropriate correction method accurately;
  • analyzing the obtained data with precision;
  • gaining information about possible treatment methods, including laser and surgical interventions.

During computer vision diagnostics, various indicators are measured using specialized equipment. Specific tests are also applied, and the structure of the visual organs is examined with a precise microscope.

One of the main stages of diagnostics is determining visual acuity. For this, you will need to read numbers at different distances using special charts. This helps to identify and select the appropriate lenses needed for correcting various eye conditions.

You will also need to use eye drops to dilate the pupil. This is essential for a thorough examination of the fundus and helps avoid the influence of intraocular muscles on visual acuity measurements.

Tests and Methods Used in Vision Diagnostics

When undergoing vision testing in Kyiv, doctors at the British Ophthalmology Center utilize modern diagnostic methods:

  • Visometry. Determines visual acuity using special charts with numbers, letters, or symbols.
  • Tonometry. Measures intraocular pressure. Increased pressure may indicate glaucoma./li>
  • Refractometry. Studies abnormal refractive conditions in eye diseases.
  • Biometry. Measures various eye parameters: lens thickness, anterior chamber depth, and eye size. Conducted with specialized optical instruments, it helps calculate the required artificial lens.
  • Pachymetry. Measures corneal thickness using ultrasound or light scanning.
  • Keratotopography. Examines the curvature shape of the cornea to detect potential changes.
  • Perimetry. Determines the boundaries of the visual field, useful for diagnosing glaucoma, optic nerve atrophy, or retinal detachment.
  • Biomicroscopy. Uses a specialized microscope to examine the eye’s anterior segment, allowing detailed observation of the cornea, conjunctiva, iris, lens, and vitreous body.
  • Fundus examination with a lens. Provides a detailed assessment of the retina and blood vessels.
  • Dioptrimetry. Analyzes the glasses you wear.

After completing computer vision diagnostics, you will receive a detailed report on the condition of your visual system. Recommendations and, if necessary, treatment plans will also be provided.
