British Ophthalmological Centre doctors speak at the first young ophthalmologists summit in Lviv
31.10.2026
On 30 and 31 October 2026, the first Junior Ophthalmology Summit took place in Lviv. It is a meeting for ophthalmologists who have recently started practising. About 250 doctors came from all regions of Ukraine.
Two doctors from the British Ophthalmological Centre gave talks. Vira Vasiuta: Medical Director of the centre, MD, DSc, senior researcher, neuro-ophthalmologist of the highest category. Valentyna Kyryk: ophthalmologist at the centre.
One of the summit slides thanked the team of the British Ophthalmological Centre. It also named mentors: Oleh Kovryhin, Oksana Vitovska, Artem Burdei and Anatolii Zhykharev.
Cases and candid conversations
The programme was built around practice. Participants brought unusual cases and worked out the diagnosis and treatment plan together with colleagues. There were case marathons, discussions and master classes. They also talked about things conferences usually skip: medical errors, doubts and the responsibility of a young doctor.
The summit was founded with the support of Professor Oksana Vitovska. She also spoke, as did ophthalmologist Inesa Tymoshenko.
The organisers want to make the summit a regular event.
