Patient information before IPL therapy
In our center, the procedure is performed using the latest-generation IPL-xenon device OPTICLEAR XL-DRY EYE MANAGEMENT, which has been approved for this ophthalmological procedure in Ukraine.
Attention! You must bring dark sunglasses with you.
7–14 days before the procedure:
- Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds to prevent tanning (there is a high risk of pigmentation after IPL).
- Do not use retinoids, acid peels, or whitening creams in the eye area.
- Do not undergo cosmetic facial procedures (laser, chemical peels, etc.).
On the day of the procedure:
- Clean your facial skin (no makeup, creams, or oils).
- Avoid wearing contact lenses before the procedure.
- You may take an antihistamine in advance if you are prone to allergic reactions (as recommended by your doctor).
Immediately after the procedure:
- Mild redness or swelling may occur — this is normal and should subside within a few hours.
- If necessary, you can apply a cool compress (but do not apply ice directly to the skin!).
Within 24–48 hours:
- Do not apply makeup around the eyes.
- Avoid rubbing your eyelids or using harsh skincare products.
- Do not wear contact lenses if your eyelids are irritated.
Skin protection:
- Always apply SPF 30+ sunscreen to your face, even if the procedure was performed only on the eyelids (UV rays may cause pigmentation).
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 1–2 weeks.
Moisturizing and recovery:
- As recommended by your doctor, you may use a soothing cream (for example, with panthenol).
- Eye drops or other products to support the ocular surface may be prescribed.
Avoid heat exposure:
- For several days, avoid saunas, steam baths, and hot baths.
Attention! IPL therapy is contraindicated during pregnancy, breastfeeding, in cases of active skin infection, epilepsy, or general diseases in the decompensation stage.
