Zlata Children’s Clinic — pediatric ophthalmology in Kyiv

At Zlata Children’s Clinic, we perform eye examinations for children from infancy to adolescence: accurate diagnostics, personalized treatment, and clear recommendations for parents. If you’re looking for where and how to check your child’s vision quickly and without stress — book a consultation with our doctor. Our reception staff will provide up-to-date prices, available promotions, and help you choose a convenient appointment time at our private pediatric eye clinic.

When to visit: first warning signs

When to visit: first warning signs

Zlata Children’s Clinic recommends not delaying an eye examination if you notice even slight changes in your child’s behavior or habits. Frequent complaints of eye fatigue, 'foggy' vision, double vision, headaches by the end of the day, squinting, or holding gadgets too close may indicate the onset of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, or binocular vision disorders. In preschoolers, additional warning signs include frequent eye rubbing, excessive blinking, or avoidance of puzzles and small toys; in school-aged children — decreased attention, poor performance when reading from the board, incorrect posture, or bringing the notebook too close to the face.

Pay attention if your child’s eyes ‘wander apart,’ if you notice occasional strabismus in photos, or if one eye appears redder than the other in pictures — these are reasons to schedule a consultation at Zlata Children’s Clinic. Other indications include early use of gadgets, a family history of myopia, prematurity, allergies, or complaints of dryness or burning after study sessions. Routine vision screening at our clinic includes age-appropriate tests and, if necessary, detailed diagnostics with fractional cycloplegia, corneal topography, and axial length control to prevent amblyopia and slow the progression of vision disorders.

Comprehensive check: accurate diagnosis and care plan

Comprehensive check: accurate diagnosis and care plan

At Zlata Children’s Clinic, we assess refraction (including with fractional cycloplegia), stereopsis, fusion reserves, eye alignment, fundus condition, and eye growth rates. Based on the results, the doctor creates a personalized care plan: optical correction, hardware vision therapy, monitoring schedule, and home exercises. Parents receive a clear report, transparent pricing, practical recommendations, and a breakdown of what each stage costs. We also include a progress forecast (when to expect improvements), explain the pros and cons of each method in simple terms, and provide a take-home vision hygiene guide.

All procedures are conducted in a playful, stress-free environment, and follow-up examinations are scheduled individually (considering school, activities, and visual load) to ensure stable visual recovery in children.

Stages of children’s eye diagnostics at Zlata Clinic

    01Initial screening and consultation

You can book an eye diagnostic appointment in just a few minutes — by phone or online.

At Zlata Children’s Eye Clinic, we collect complaints and history, perform playful visual acuity screening, basic binocular function and eye alignment tests, and examine the anterior segment. We provide initial vision hygiene advice and decide if extended testing is needed (cycloplegia, topography, biometry). The next step’s cost is discussed right away.

    02Extended measurements with cycloplegia

We perform refraction/retinoscopy under fractional cycloplegia, corneal topography/tomography for accurate astigmatism detection, fundus examination with pupil dilation, measure axial length, and check stereovision and fusion reserves. Results are explained in simple words and recorded in a report.

    03Personalized treatment and follow-up plan

Our team discusses results with parents, prescribes correction (glasses/contact lenses), recommends hardware therapy if indicated, provides home exercises and a follow-up schedule. We issue a written report, treatment cost estimate, and links to reviews.

List of diagnostic examinations

During an eye exam, a range of tests is performed to comprehensively assess the visual system:

Visiometry (visual acuity test)

We measure how well a child sees at distance and near. For little ones — pictures and icons instead of letters, for school-age children — standard charts. The test is conducted in a playful way so the child feels comfortable.

Tonometry (Intraocular Pressure)

We use non-contact air-puff tonometry — a quick puff of air that helps rule out glaucoma and other conditions. Children usually tolerate it calmly; the procedure takes only a few seconds.

Refractometry

Using an autorefractometer, we determine the eye’s refractive power: myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism. If needed, we add retinoscopy and fractional cycloplegia (drops temporarily ‘relax’ accommodation) to get precise prescription values.

Biometry (Axial Length and Eye Parameters)

We non-invasively measure axial length, anterior chamber depth, and lens thickness. Important for monitoring myopia progression in children and for intraocular lens selection later in life.

Pachymetry (Corneal Thickness)

A light or ultrasound device quickly and painlessly measures corneal thickness. Data are needed for intraocular pressure evaluation, future refractive planning, and post-injury or inflammation control.

Keratotopography (Corneal Map)

Determines corneal shape and curvature. In children, it helps detect astigmatism, early keratoconus signs in teens, and select proper optical correction. The procedure is non-contact.

Perimetry (Visual Field Test)

We assess what part of the visual field a child perceives while focusing on a point. Useful for detecting optic nerve issues, neuro-ophthalmic conditions, and glaucoma risk monitoring. Instructions are given simply for easy cooperation.

Biomicroscopy (Slit-Lamp Exam)

A ‘microscope for the eye’ that allows a detailed look at eyelids, cornea, iris, and lens. Children sit comfortably while the doctor gently explains each step — it’s completely painless.

Fundus Examination with a Lens

After pupil-dilating drops, the doctor examines the retina, macula, and optic disc. Detects congenital changes, myopia-related damage, vascular and inflammatory conditions. Local anesthetic drops are used if needed.

Dioptrometry (Glasses Check)

We measure the optical strength of current glasses: sphere, cylinder, axis, interpupillary distance. Helps assess if glasses are suitable and whether an updated prescription is needed.

Kasatkina Liudmyla Pavlivna

Cataract treatment

Kasatkina Liudmyla Pavlivna

I am very grateful to the medical staff of the British Ophthalmological Center, in particular to Chief Surgeon, my attending physician the doctor Department the doctor, who directly took part in my treatment. The work of the ophthalmological center is organized very efficiently, at a high scientific and technical level, with the use of the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies. All departments of the center work clearly and promptly, following an algorithm. Courtesy and tolerance towards patients, excellent aesthetic design, and the impeccable sanitary and hygienic condition of the center testify to a high level of culture and discipline, which positively affects the patients’ state of mind and the course of their rehabilitation. I sincerely wish the British Ophthalmological Center further great success in its work. Patient: Kasatkina Liudmyla Pavlivna (from Kherson). Modern cataract treatment and clear post‑op instructions made a big difference.

Porokhivnyk Hryhorii Ivanovych

Cataract treatment

Porokhivnyk Hryhorii Ivanovych

My name is Porokhivnyk Hryhorii Ivanovych, I am 65 years old and a patient of the British Ophthalmological Center. It so happened in my life that I did not pay much attention to my health, including the health of my eyes. About a year and a half ago, I visited an ophthalmologist, I did nothing to stabilize my cataract. Problems began when I realized that I could not properly determine the distance to objects, and driving became uncomfortable for me. I visited three clinics together with my wife, and she was given two very different opinions: from “you urgently need surgery” to “it’s just the initial stage and no surgery is needed yet.” Such is private medicine. I started searching the internet. I found many videos by Oleksii (not an ophthalmologist), for which I am especially grateful. Personally, he helped me a lot, especially since I practically knew nothing about this before. The most important thing is the qualification of the surgeon the lens parameters, and the quality of the equipment. Unfortunately, the choice of lens is left to you personally, and no one can guarantee that the result will fully meet your expectations. I was lucky — the examination and all measurements were done by a wonderful doctor, a Ukrainian, an athlete, and a great person, the doctor Uliana Ivanivna. If you need a consultation, contact her — you won’t be mistaken. She is the best ophthalmologist I have met in my life. With the choice of surgeon, I was even luckier. It was the doctor — golden hands, the highest qualification, and a golden soul, love for his work and for people — this is what characterizes him. The atmosphere in the clinic is friendly and pleasant. Thanks to everyone who took part in my surgery and to all the staff of the clinic. Today is the fifth day. I am going for a follow-up consultation. I think the test will show close to one hundred percent. I see both far and near well (the lens parameters were calculated correctly). I received a TECNIS Symfony lens with astigmatism correction. In the evening, bright lights show some artifacts like rays or halos. I hope this will go away, but even so, it’s manageable. The brightness of the image at night is the same as with my healthy eye. Once again, a huge THANK YOU to the doctor!!! Modern cataract treatment and clear post‑op instructions made a big difference.

Vitreoretinal surgery

Fedorchenko Nadiia Vitaliivna

I, Fedorchenko Nadiia Vitaliivna, would like to express my gratitude to the doctor M.O. for the high-quality performance of a complex surgery for retinal detachment of the left eye. I am satisfied with the examination, the surgery, and the postoperative care. The doctors and medical staff of the British Ophthalmological Center are very attentive. Special thanks to the doctor M.O. for his golden hands. Wishing you creative success and good health. Recommended for anyone who needs retinal examination and vitreoretinal surgery.

Maiorenkova Nataliia Ivanivna

Laser vision correction

Maiorenkova Nataliia Ivanivna

I, Maiorenkova Nataliia Ivanivna, would like to leave a review about the British Ophthalmological Center. I was choosing between two different clinics, but I chose the British one, and I have no regrets. The staff are of the highest level, everyone is polite, friendly, and patient, the service is excellent. I would like to thank the anesthesiologists, and give special thanks to the doctor V.K. — she does incredible work, one could say it is like fine jewelry, she is amazing, and also a very beautiful woman. I wish everyone prosperity and peaceful skies. You are the best. Thank you. P.S. I am writing this review on the third day after surgery on both eyes, and I am writing without glasses! Thanks again! I also appreciated the thorough eye examination and the modern laser vision correction approach.
